Bellacana Vineyard

Nestled in the heart of Alexander Valley, Bellacana Vineyard spans 138 acres along both sides of the Russian River, an area renowned for its world-class winegrowing. For decades, we have been a trusted grape supplier to some of the industry's top wineries, consistently delivering fruit of exceptional quality. Our vineyard is more than just a place where grapes grow—it is a reflection of deep-rooted traditions, sustainable stewardship, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

Terroir & Climate

The estate lies in the heart of Alexander Valley, where the meeting of soil, elevation, and climate creates an extraordinary environment for growing world-class Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux varieties. Our estate rests on the fertile valley floor, where layers of rich topsoil give way to ancient gravel and river stone just beneath the surface—remnants of the nearby Russian River’s historic path. These well-draining alluvial and loamy soils encourage deep root systems, allowing the vines to draw complexity and balance from the land while producing fruit of remarkable purity.

Rising dramatically above the valley floor is our most distinctive site: Block 21, a 13.8-acre hillside vineyard perched nearly 1,000 feet above the estate. Here, the terrain shifts to leaner, rockier soils that naturally limit vigor and concentrate the fruit. The result is Cabernet Sauvignon of striking depth and structure, with smaller berries that deliver remarkable intensity and age-worthy character.

Across the estate, our vineyards benefit from the cooling influence of morning and evening fog flowing inland from the Pacific Ocean through the Russian River corridor. Warm days followed by cool nights create an ideal rhythm for the vines, allowing grapes to ripen slowly and evenly while preserving freshness and natural balance.

The dialogue between valley floor richness and hillside power defines Bellacana’s wines—an elegant expression of Alexander Valley terroir shaped by elevation, soil, and the quiet influence of the Pacific.

Sustainable Stewardship

Stewardship of the land lies at the heart of the estate. Our vineyards are farmed with a deep respect for both the environment and the cultural traditions that have shaped this landscape for generations. Certified sustainable and guided by organic farming principles, we care for the vineyard with the understanding that the health of the land today ensures its vitality for those who will follow.

The vineyard is cultivated as a living ecosystem. Estate composting returns organic materials—including vegetables, coffee grounds, and fermented grape pomace—to the soil, naturally enriching the earth and strengthening the vines. This cycle of renewal reflects a philosophy rooted in balance between land, water, and life.

Every decision in the vineyard is made with intention and precision. From meticulous pruning and canopy management to carefully controlled yields, each practice is designed to elevate fruit quality while preserving the natural harmony of the vineyard. Through thoughtful, low-intervention viticulture, the rhythms of nature guide the growing season, encouraging biodiversity and resilient vines.

The result is fruit that captures the character of the land itself—pure, expressive, and deeply connected to the place from which it comes.

Varietals & Vine Stewardship

Our estate is planted to Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon—varieties that thrive in the unique climate and soils of the Russian River Valley. Each block is carefully farmed to highlight the natural character of the land and the individuality of the fruit it produces.

Throughout the growing season, every vine is tended with intention and precision. From thoughtful canopy management to carefully timed harvest decisions, each step is guided by a commitment to balance, purity, and expression.

This meticulous approach allows the vineyard to produce fruit of exceptional character—forming the foundation for wines that reflect both the elegance of the estate and the distinct voice of the land.

Winemaking Philosophy

Great wine begins with a profound respect for the land. Our estate vineyards along the Russian River provide the foundation for wines that capture the essence of Sonoma County—where cooling Pacific fog, diverse soils, and careful stewardship shape fruit of remarkable character.

We believe the vineyard is the true architect of great wine. Each vine is tended with intention, allowing the fruit to fully express its sense of place. In the cellar, our philosophy is one of restraint. Through minimal intervention, we guide the wine with a light hand, preserving the purity, balance, and complexity that originate in the vineyard.

Grapes are harvested at peak ripeness and meticulously hand-sorted before undergoing a gentle cold soak to enhance depth and aromatics. Fermentation begins naturally with native yeasts unique to the vineyard, allowing the wine to develop its authentic voice. After fermentation, the wines are carefully pressed and aged in select French oak barrels, where they gain structure, texture, and refinement over time.

Only the most exceptional fruit ultimately finds its way into bottle. This uncompromising commitment to quality ensures that every vintage reflects the elegance of the estate and the integrity of the land from which it comes.

At Bellacana Vineyards, our goal is timeless: to craft wines of depth, balance, and distinction that honor the land and the legacy it represents.
